Paul McLinden

We are privileged to have Paul as part of our team at reab. With nearly three decades in the industry, Paul Anthony McLinden has helped to shape mainstream Pilates into one of the world’s fastest growing exercise methods. During his classical ballet training at London’s Central Ballet School, Paul worked as an apprentice to Pilates industry legend Alan Herdman, the man credited with first bringing the Pilates method to the UK.

Paul’s ballet performance career lasted nearly a decade, having shared a stage with some of the world’s greatest names in dance: the Bolshoi’s Nina Ananiashvili, Carla Fracchi, Rudolf Nureyev. After retiring from the stage, Paul completed the Professional Dancers Teaching Course at the Royal Academy of Dance, personally certified by then president Dame Margot Fonteyn. He went on to accept teaching positions at some of Italy’s most celebrated ballet academies, including San Carlo di Napoli, the Reggio Emilia Opera House and the esteemed Arena di Verona.

Having travelled the globe perfecting the classical Pilates method, Paul was appointed the first Head of Teacher Training for the Body Control Pilates Association in 1996. Body Control continues to be the UK’s largest Pilates organisation and an undisputed world leader in Pilates education.

Today, Paul is one of the most respected and recognisable names in the industry. He co-founded Brighton’s very first Pilates studio, his client base includes a vast cross section of people, from school teachers to brick layers, professional dancers, sports personalities and a handful of high-profile Hollywood celebrities.

Paul is a Senior Course Lecturer for the Body Control Pilates Association and is certified as a Level 3 Pilates Instructor by the Register for Exercise Professionals. He is the Head of Ballet at the Rox School of Dancing near his home in Hove, East Sussex. Paul’s instructional DVD Pilates for Dancers was released in 2010.
